PARENTS have been given the chance to "log on" to information communication technology to keep pace with their children.
And it's all thanks to Bury Council's libraries department which has been staging a series of "Get You Started on the Internet" classes.
Also taking part have been youngsters who are uninitiated when it comes to harnessing the world wide web.
The local authority stress that the Internet is playing an ever-increasing role in children's education and is an invaluable tool for homework.
Information communication technology is set to become a core National Curriculum subject, alongside maths, English and science.
All parents wish to become involved in their children's education and to be able to help with homework.
The short "Get Your Started" course was an excellent opportunity for parents to learn how to help their sons and daughters with homeworking, using this modern technology.
The sessions, which took place at libraries in Whitefield, Ramsbottom, Prestwich, Unsworth and Tottington, were designed to help mums and dads and children to use the Internet to support homework.
Each of the classes was free and led by specialist library staff. The sessions included "hands-on time" and free "goody bags" with vouchers for free Internet access.
