MUM Nina Oakley has vowed never to return to a Bury family fun pub.
Mrs Oakley said she watched in horror when as many as ten mice scuttled across the restaurant floor at the Paper Mill pub in Pilsworth.
A number of staff, including the assistant manager, witnessed the invasion but, according to Mrs Oakley, refused to take any action to either rid the rodents from the pub or explain the problem.
As the mother of one and her friend left the pub in disgust, she saw a chef shooing the mice away from the ice-cream counter.
Mrs Oakley told the Bury Times: "My friend and I were just finishing off our meal when I saw the mice, about nine or ten of them, run across the floor near to the bar. "I felt sickened and alerted the assistant manager who offered neither an apology nor an explanation. She didn't seem bothered that the pub was infested with rodents."
The 26-year-old, who is a community cardiac sister with Salford NHS Trust, said she will now boycott the pub in case her baby daughter gets an infection from the mice. She said: "If the staff seem to accept mice in the pub then what else do they turn a blind eye to?
"God knows what the kitchens are like or the ball pits in the Wacky Warehouse part. There could be mice or droppings in there. I will never take my daughter there again."
Punch Retail, which operates the pub, has now brought in a pest control company to deal with the mice and has issued an apology to customers.
A spokesman for the company said: "We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience or upset caused.
"Unfortunately, the pub is in a rural setting and field mice are a natural hazard. We would like to assure our customers that the matter is being dealt with by our contractor, Terminix, who are in the process of eradicating the pests. We have taken every precaution possible to ensure that they cannot gain entry in future."
Punch Retail has liaised with Bury's environmental health office.
The spokesman added: "The evidence to date proves that this is most likely an accidental infestation. There is no health risk whatsoever as the Paper Mill operates a hygienic kitchen and pub area."
