THE main post office in Bacup had to close because there was no money to hand out after a van delivering cash was robbed in Manchester.
Pensioners were said to be queuing on Burnley Road once the post office finally opened at 12.30pm on Thursday but when they went to spend their money in the Co-op Food Store on Union Street, a power cut took out the computers and shut the automatic front doors!
Staff at the Co-op said the store was affected for four hours, but emergency fire doors allowed people to exit the store safely.
