A GARDENER from Burnley took some of the trophies at the annual Fence village horticultural show.
Ron Barker, of Waddington Avenue, entered the show for the first time and won trophies for the best flower exhibit and top bowl of roses.
Entries turned the village scout headquarters into a blaze of colour.
Secretary Judith David commented: "People have done very well, particularly as the weather has been bad.
"We have a very good entry in the photographic section and some very inventive entries in the children's exhibits. It has been a good village show as usual."
Trophies were presented by Janet Creelman, chairman of the Old Laund Booth Parish Council.
Winners were: floral plant, Sheila tempest; foliage plant, Ann Pollard; perennials, Pam Barker; best vegetable exhibit, Fred Thompson; confectionery, Catherine Nutter, preserves, Rita Nutter; crafts, Valerie Blamire; photograph, Stephanie Robinson; floral art, Stephanie Robinson; children's section trophy, Jenny Douglas; trophy for most wins, Sheila Tempest.
Best kept garden competition winners were the Taylors of Wheatley Lane Road, runner up, Keith Nutter, Pendle Fields and third (for back yard) Eileen Richardson, Wheatley Lane Road.
