MEMBERS of Pendle Writers took a break from creating their own masterpieces and let someone else entertain them as part of the group's first anniversary celebrations.
An evening of entertainment supplied by wandering bards Haslingden Splash marked the end of the group's first 12 months.
The event, attended by the Mayor of Pendle Coun Colin Waite, was held at the Pendle Writers fortnightly meeting place, The Golden Ball in Colne.
Since the group was created with only five, membership has increased to 21 and it now has its own website.
Secretary Elizabeth Naibitt said: "It has gone really well. We have had our ups and downs but are still here.
"The first couple of months were a little worrying when we were trying to get members but we weren't going to give up.
"Our main aim now is to produce our own anthology. We tend to think of what we haven't done but whan we look back, we have achieved a lot.
"We have grown in numbers, we have already had a poetry competition, have our own website and are arranging an awards ceremony. We can't really expect more than that."
Anyone over the age of 16 years wanting to join the group should contact Elizabeth on 01282 618160 or publicity officer Tony Leather on 01282 615250.
