BURY boss Andy Preece had mixed emotions after his sides Worthington Cup defeat -- the visitors won by a comfortable score but Bury played well.
"In the first half we played the best football certainly since I have been at the club, we passed well, we got in behind their defence, got shots in, we completely outplayed them.
"I'm astounded that we have lost that game. In the second half we seemed to lose belief. But there are a lot of good things to take from the game to Huddersfield on Saturday."
Ekoku gave the Owls an undeserved lead, but after the break Wednesday raised their performance following a half time roasting. Danny Maddix got the second before Paul MacLaren sealed the Shakers fate. Paul Reid netted a late consolation from the penalty spot.
RESULT: BURY...1 SHEFFIELD WED...3
