PADIHAM went down to their second defeat of the new season last night when they lost 1-0 to Bacup Borough at the Arbories in a typical derby encounter.
Not much was given away by either side in the opening 20 minutes of the game until Jason Lann's intercepted a poor pass and crashed in a 20 yard shot to give the visitors the lead.
Dean Stowe should have equalised for Padiham straight from the restart but he failed to get any real power in his shot and Adam Potts saved well.
In the second half the two best chances fell firstly to Padiham's Lee Chambers in the 73rd minute when he somehow scooped a shot over the visitors crossbar when it looked easier to head in, and then seven minutes later when Bacup's Karl Stanley broke free only to shoot over himself when one on one with Padiham keeper Kirk Marsden.
Padiham midfielder player Anthony McCluskey was sent off for retaliation after he had been fouled near the end of the game which all in all made it a dismal evening for Storks' manager Graham Howarth who thought his side should have had at least a point out of the game.
RESULT: PADIHAM... 0 BACUP BOROUGH... 1
