AVENHAM PARK is set to ring to the sound of traditional jazz music in a new festival.
World Rhythms is bringing a taste of Latin and Deep South American music to Preston on Sunday, August 26.
Following the success of Jazzin' the Park music festival last month, organiser Frank Sanderson has teamed up with the council to put on a second show.
The new event will be a showcase of the some of the North West's best jazz bands and musicians. The day will feature Felicidade Latin Jazz combo, the Red Rose Band playing New Orleans style jazz, South American salsa band Mambo Diablo, the Brindle Brass Band and a Spanish guitar recital.
Along with the bands classic car fans will be catered for in a display of cars and funfair attractions will be on hand for the kids. Food stalls will complete the family day out.
Mr Sanderson said: "The last music festival we had in the park -- Jazzin' the Park -- was a great success. More than three-and-a-half-thousand people turned up, and the bands were great. Fingathing, who played at the last event, are starting to become a really popular act now. They could get really big! I hope this new festival will be just as big, and the bands should be just as good too."
The festival starts at noon on Sunday, August 26. Admission is free.
