NEW plans for one of Heysham's most troublesome sites will be put before councillors on Tuesday.
Planning permission for a terrace of town houses on the site of the former St John Ambulance Hall, Middleton Road, was given in 1994, but the development was never carried out. A plan for an old people's home on the site was kicked out, but planners have recommended that a development of 13 one and two bedroom apartments should be given the go ahead.
Heysham Neighbourhood Council, however, has strongly objected to the scheme which, it claims, is over-intensive and out of character with the area and would overlook bungalows at the back. The council has also raised concerns about road safety in the area.
