A RESIDENTS group hopes a series of car boot sales will have boost funds to buy benches for a recreational area it has created.
Lodgeside Trust spent three years transforming a piece of derelict land off Watery Lane, Darwen, with the £30,000 cost was met by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
The grass was re-seeded, drainage pipes installed, and a basket ball hoop and goalposts provided.
Eventually there will be benches, but the money needed has to be raised.
Every Sunday this month the Trust -- made up of Whitehall residents -- has held a car boot sale at the Borough Hotel, Grimshaw Street. The last one is on Sunday. Pitches £5.
