A TEENAGER suffered a double fracture of his skull after being hit with a golf club during an incident in Darwen.
Steven Heyward is receiving one-to-one care in the high dependency unit at Royal Preston Hospital where his condition is described as poorly.
He was rushed to hospital after the incident on the playing fields at Darwen Moorland High School on Monday night, which involved two groups of youths.
A second teenager, Michael Box, was also struck with a golf club and he suffered a dislocated shoulder, cuts and bruises to his face and possibly a broken thumb.
Blackburn magistrates were told that Steven and Michael, both aged about 17, had gone to the playing fields to recover gold clubs and balls belonging to younger friends, which had been taken by older boys.
A 15-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has appeared in court charged with two offences of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded on bail to appear before the youth court on Tuesday .
Conditions of his bail include living at an address in Blackburn, not to enter Darwen except when accompanied by an adult and not to contact witnesses.
A second youth is being interviewed by police in connection with the incident.
