STAND had a frustrating weekend which started with an abandoned match against Oldham.
Stand scored 136 for 4 in 44.2 overs, Flegg top scoring with 48 runs. However when Oldham's pro Brandon Nash slipped and fell the umpires decided to leave the field of play and the match was abandoned.
The following day Stand could have done with the rain again as they slipped to a heavy defeat at the hands of Ashton.
Stand were hoping for a win but a superb 84 from Ashton opener Jason Mellor supported by a half century from pro Mark Conroy soon put things in perspective.
Ashton reached 208 off 50 overs and then bowled excellently.
Stand could not build an innings and at 95 for 9 it was left to the last pair to add a bit of respectability.
They put on 43 together to take Stand to a healthier 138 all out, but it was still not enough to avoid defeat.
UNSWORTH had to wait until a league meeting to decide wether their match against Crompton was a tie (3 points) or a draw (2 points).
In an exciting game Crompton batted steadily before rain interrupted play.
Dawson batted through the innings scoring 55 not out and as time ran short Crompton declared after 44 overs.
The bowling in difficult circumstances was steady rather than spectacular.
Unsworth batted and the star was professional Wanasinghe who batted extremely well in his choice of shot and how he farmed the bowling.
He was finally bowled by his opposite pro Iqbal for 92. Unsworth drew level but time ran out leaving the sides in suspense as to the outcome of the league meeting.
