A HOST of celebrities will gather at Blackpool Pleasure Beach next week to celebrate youth club network UK Youth's 90th birthday.
Rowing champion Sir Steven Redgrave will join Marc E T of Bahamen "Who Let The Dogs Out?" fame, Lionel Blair, Vanessa Feltz, Youth FM DJ Dappa D and footballers Trevor Sinclair, Les Ferdinand and Danny Maddix for a day-long party at the fun park next Friday (August 31).
Sir Steven will host a series of 90-second super sprint rowing races featuring young people from across the country.
World dance champion Marc E T will attempt to break the Euromix Dancing Stage world record with a nine hour stint starting at 7.30am -- three hours before the park opens.
And the first ever candyfloss world record -- for the most made in 90 minutes -- is also scheduled to take place. The event launches "Gimme 90", a week of challenges for youngsters around the country to raise money for local community projects.
DJ Dappa D, 15, will spin a 90-minute set during the day with eight-year-old DJ Welly, the world's youngest DJ.
And the day will end with a giant balloon race from the top of the Big One roller coaster while pop group Girls At Play entertain.
And as an added bonus, youngsters taking part in the fund-raising at Blackpool Pleasure Beach could enjoy free rides on the day!
DJ Dappa called for Blackpool's youth to get involved. He said: "Come with your mates and have a laugh -- and obviously listen to the number one DJ! Come down, it's going to be a big day. You might even get your name in the Guinness World Records."
An event spokesman said: "The Pleasure Beach has all the things that young people would want to have a good time -- and it's safe."
And she said there is still time to phone UK Youth on 020 7242 4045 and register for the day's fund-raising activities, which could lead to free Pleasure Beach rides.
"Youngsters who raise a minimum of £20 get ten free A-rides, and a minimum of £30 gets unlimited rides," she said.
For those who are not fund-raising but still want to join in the fun, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has set up a special hot-line offering discounted tickets for August 31 on 0870 444 5577.
