ARMED robbers escaped with £12,000 from a Bury post office.
Two masked men are now being hunted by police after the raid on Friday (Aug 17).
The robbery happened at 4.20pm when the raiders burst into the Limefield Post Office in Walmersley Road.
One of the men smashed the security screen with a baseball bat forcing a 51-year-old post mistress to run into a back room for her own safety.
No customers were in the post office at the time of the incident and the thieves helped themselves to the cash. They escaped in a blue Volvo 740 which had been reported stolen hours earlier.
Witnesses are now being asked to come forward to help police with their investigations and descriptions have been released of the raiders. One is said to be white, 5ft 8 ins tall, slim, and wearing a vivid blue top and a black face mask.
The other is only described as white and also wearing a mask.
Anyone who can help police with their investigations should contact Bury CID on 856 8150 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
