PROMOTED sides have a habit of making a big impact and no club should know that better than Burnley after their charge to the verge of the play-offs last season.
And the evidence is strong with Ipswich shaking up the Premiership last term and the Clarets' neighbours Preston North End going to the Division One play-offs.
So Burnley know that their trip to the New Den to face newly promoted Millwall will not be an easy ride.
Millwall go into the clash expecting to utilise a similar squad to that which notched a 2-1 Worthington Cup first round win over second division Cardiff City at the New Den on Tuesday night.
A 61st minute penalty from veteran front-runner Steve Claridge sealed success for the Lions after strike partner Richard Sadler had handed the home side the lead.
The Lions started their League campaign with a 4-0 home drubbing of Norwich City, but on Sunday slumped to a 4-0 defeat at Birmingham City and manager Mark McGhee felt his side had shown the effects of their Blues defeat against Cardiff
"Our game at Birmingham City was only two days before. The players are human beings it was a big drain mentally and physically," explained McGhee.
"There was still some good stuff against Cardiff, which I have to be pleased about, but because we didn't really have the energy we were unable to really capitalise on the gaps Cardiff were leaving at the back."
However, McGhee's side will be eager to prove that last weekend's League reversal was merely a hiccup when they face the Clarets.
"The players will be anxious to prove that Sunday was a blip rather than an indication of where we stand as a First Division side," added McGhee.
"They have trained well and realise where the problems were at St Andrews, so this is a good opportunity to put Sunday's match behind us. But it will be a difficult game for us."
There were no reported injuries in the Lions camp, but they are still without striker Paul Moody, who has missed the season's start through illness, and midfielder Christophe Kenet, who is not pencilled in for a return for another two weeks after sustaining an ankle injury.
The Clarets suffered no further casualities during their 3-2 Worthington Cup reversal in midweek.
Neither midfielder Paul Weller or defender Mitchell Thomas are likely to return.
Weller is expecting to be out for another fortnight with a hamstring strain, while Thomas has only just returned to full training.
Midfielder Lee Briscoe, who missed the Rushden game after taking a knock on the ankle in the 3-2 win over Wimbledon last weekend, should be in contention.
