A DREAM came true for multiple sclerosis sufferer Amanda Brundy when she did the parachute jump of a lifetime.
Amanda (30) of Linton Avenue, Limefield, took the plunge 15,000 feet above South Humberside to raise money for the Bury Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The tandem leap fulfilled a lifelong wish for Amanda, who was diagnosed with the condition three years ago and now uses a wheelchair.
She said: "It was brilliant. It's always been my one ambition. I wanted to know what it felt like to be a bird flying through the air, even though when you parachute you're just dropping really."
And the help of her jumping partner, Chris Miller, from Manchester Parachute School, was invaluable said Amanda.
"He was terrific and told me where to put my arms and feet. Without him it wouldn't have been possible."
Amanda, a former Broad Oak pupil, presented a £475 cheque to the society, raised through sponsorship from friends in Bury and Somerset, where she and husband Graham used to live.
She returned to Bury after she left her job due to the illness and wanted to be closer to friends and family for support.
Amanda said: "As well as raising money I just wanted to make people aware of multiple sclerosis."
Details of the society are available by contacting them on 253 6850.
