TITLE-CHASING Walshaw were finally beaten by the weather last weekend in their match against local rivals Elton.
But that wasn't before their openers Gary Dyson and Anthony Harris had hit an opening stand of 150 and 19-year-old wicketkeeper Anthony "Bomber" Harris continued his onslaught of the Elton bowling to make a magnificent unbeaten 106 - his first century in senior cricket.
Walshaw declared their innings on 186 for the loss of only one wicket with 18 overs of their innings remaining.
In reply Elton only had 18 overs in which to get the runs and the match finally succumbed to the rain with each side awarded six points.
That meant rivals Atherton pulled six points back in the title chase after they fared better meteorologically against Blackrod.
Walshaw fared little better on Sunday when they faced Clifton. After 16 overs Clifton were 25 for 3 when the heavens opened and play was postponed.
Meanwhile the Leigh Lane lads managed just four overs more before they "upped sticks".
The Elton total finished on 62 for 2 with John Pemberton leading the way with 35.
