PUPILS from the Kathleen Atherton Dance Academy experienced the thrill of their lives this weekend.
Twenty girls from the Leigh school travelled to London on Saturday, having been asked to perform at Her Majesty's Theatre, in the West End.
The girls, aged between 10 and 16, were chosen alongside pupils from eight other lucky schools, after dancing in four of the Harlequin Enterprises productions, at the Empire Theatre, Liverpool.
The excited students spent Saturday rehearsing their two routines, Saturday Night Fever, and dream fantasy, Nightmare, with the stage crew from Cameron McIntosh's Phantom of the Opera. Their final performance took place on Sunday.
The trip was made possible through a concerted fund-raising effort. They managed to raise £2,000, thanks to students and parents from the school, Waterfields, Leigh Rugby Club, Asda, Sainsbury's, Greater Manchester Police and Leigh United Reform Church.
A delighted Kathleen Atherton said: "I'd like to thank mothers, Olive and Denise for making the girls' fabulous costumes." ENCORE! Kathleen Atherton Dance Academy pupils
