THREE cheers for MASC -- Motorists Against Speed Cameras -- who are literally knocking them out of action.
Their latest attack on the A40 saw four cameras wrecked in a 15-mile stretch.
I'm not condoning vandalism, but I have to say yippee.
The destruction came just a week after it emerged that motorists could soon face fines and penalties for breaking the speed limit by as little as 5mph.
Ministers are considering reprogramming roadside cameras to lower the speed at which they are triggered, generating an extra £10m in fines over the next five years.
Tough new rules have been announced to quell fears over a major expansion of the camera network. Police will be forced to provide evidence that sites are accident blackspots and all cameras must be clearly marked with warning signs.
I should think so too, I agree with that. However, the damage caused last week will cost the taxpayer £40,000. I don't mind contributing to get a bit or revenge.
