A HANG glider was airlifted to Rochdale General Hospital yesterday after he crashed into a hillside in Bacup.
The manwho has not yet been named landed on Brown Wardle Hill and emergency services were called at 4.20pm.
Police said paramedics at the scene requested the use of the police helicopter for a medical evacuation.
With the assistance of local officers, paramedics and mountain rescue the man was safely airlifted 500 yards from the side of the hill to the valley floor.
He was then taken by ambulance to hospital where it was discovered he had suffered several fractures to his right leg.
