CHORLEY...3 FARSLEY CELTIC...2

AN amazing second-half fightback enabled Chorley to overturn a two-goal half-time deficit and in the end run out comfortable winners in this UniBond First Division clash.

Nothing looked less likely after Celtic had dominated the first period, two goals being scant reward for their supremacy. Chris Newton headed the visitors in front in the 11th minute, Gary Shaw had another header cleared off the line and Darren France struck a post, before on 31 minutes Newton calmly chipped his second over the stranded Simon Marsh after the keeper had blocked his first attempt.

The early loss of centre-back Lee Moyneux through injury and a penalty miss just before the interval by the usually reliable Danny Mills only added to the Magpies' misery but they were a different team after the break.

In the 56th minute Farsley keeper Danny Taylor carelessly allowed himself to be hustled out of possession by David Eatock and Andy Mason stroked the ball into the empty net

Five minutes later Eatock cleverly bent a free-kick past the defensive wall to equalise and as Chorley piled forward substitute Scott Bradford scrambled in a third on 69 minutes following a probing run by Chris Blakeman.

Shell-shocked Farsley's only hint of an equaliser came when substitute Damian Henderson won an aerial duel with Marsh but Ian Leather dropped back to clear off the line and Mason ought to have made it four for Chorley late on when he directed a free header too close to the keeper.
