A ROBBER threatened off-licence staff with an axe before escaping with money from the till.
The raider went into the Cost Less store in Wigan Road, Leigh, and demanded cash while waving the weapon. The thief, said to be aged in his early 20s, escaped down Wigan Road with the money after the robbery at 5.30pm on Sunday.
He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, with blonde hair. He wore black tracksuit bottoms with stripes, splattered with white paint, and a green T-shirt.
He had a baseball cap pulled tightly over his head and spoke with a local accent. Anyone who can help police should call Leigh CID on 0161 856 7352 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
