AN eight-year-old boy was relieved after fire services freed him from a lift where he had been trapped for 20 minutes.
Robert Sillitoe had been visiting his grandma at Stopforth Court Residential Home, Sparth Road, Clayton-le-Moors on Sunday.
The little boy had been in the lift by himself when an electrical fault confined him to the lift.
Fire officers gave him a 'trauma Ted' cuddly toy to comfort him while they rescued him.
Sub Officer Neil Ashworth, said: "We managed to free Robert within ten minutes of arrival.
"Robert was very upset and scared but we soon sorted that out by giving him a trauma Ted and a look around the fire engine.
"I think he has now got over his experience and was grateful to us because he sent us some chocolates and a card."
