STROKE victim Mary Turner says her life has been changed thanks to the generosity of regulars at her local pub.
A week ago a charity day was held at the Swan pub in Market Street, Bacup, where Mary plays darts and meets her friends.
The day raised in the region of £1,000 which has been used to buy Mary an electric scooter.
The keys were handed over to her by landlord Terry Egan. Terry said: "Mary has done so much good work to help The Swan raise money for charity they decided that this time it was her turn.
Mary, 64, who lives in the Rockcliffe area close to the pub said: "It is overwhelming. It will open up a whole new world for me."
In the last two years the former shoe and slipper worker has helped The Swan raise £1,158 for Pendlebury Children's Hospital and £1,000 for the Rossendale Stroke Club.
Landlord Terry Egan said: "She is a lovely lady.
"She is a regular at the pub and although she lives only a short distance away often has to come by taxi. A motorised scooter will be ideal for her and will help her with her shopping as well."
Mary said: "I have sticks and calipers and have mobility problems. Although it is only a short distance a taxi ride cost me £2."
Mary has been visiting the pub for the last 12 years and enjoys playing darts and meeting her many friends.
She added: "The scooter will be a lot of help to me because my husband, Vincent, is not too well."
