VISITORS to a United Utilities website have raised £50,000 for the National Trust's Lake District Fund, which was set up to assist the Lakes' recovery from the foot and mouth crisis.
In May, the water and electricity company launched the '100 days to Make a Difference' campaign.
Since then, the company, which owns 38,000 acres of land in the Lakes, has donated £1 every time a web surfer logged on to their site.
Bob Armstong, of United Utilities, said: "We'd like to thank all those desk-top conservationists who went into the website.
"We can now all say that we played our part in helping the recovery of the Lake District."
