POLICE have issued an appeal for help in their enquiries concerning a vicious stabbing during a robbery.
Thieves contacted a 25-year-old man regarding the sale of property he had advertised in a newspaper.
They arranged to meet in a lay-by on Market Street, Chorley, where they waited for him.
Police said when he arrived he got into the men's car, a light blue Peugeot containing two Pakistanis said to be from Manchester, and showed them two Nokia mobile phones, worth about £300, which he was selling.
The thieves then drove the man to a local supermarket and drew money from a cash machine before driving to St George's Street.
Without warning one of the men jumped into the back of the car where the victim was sat and placed his hands around his throat.
He then stabbed him in the left forearm with a pair of scissors.
The man hit the thief causing a nasty injury to his finger and managed to get out of the car after sustaining severe blows to his head.
The incident happened on Monday, August 13 at 8.50pm.
Anyone who can help should ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
