A MAN died after injecting himself with heroin, an inquest in Leigh was told.
Coroner Aidan Cotter recorded a verdict that Eliott Longworth, aged 25 of Gidlow Street, Hindley had died as a result of abusing heroin.
Mr Cotter said: "I could record a verdict of accidental death but I want people to understand that if they take heroin sooner or later they will die from it."
Mr Longworth died on April 9 this year. He had been watching a video with some friends and his sister Julie at a flat at Quayside in Leigh when he went into the bathroom and injected himself with heroin.
Dr Jonathan Pearson said it had been reported to him that Mr Longworth had been found collapsed after a self injection of heroin and that he was a known intravenous drug addict.
He said the amount of morphine and methadone found in his body were at levels normally associated with fatalities. The level of alcohol in Mr Longworth's body was found to be three and half times over the driving limit. He said the cause of death was a drug overdose.
