A CHIPPY in Colne has made it through it to the last 10 in the North of England in the search for the country's best fish and chips.
Owners of the Cemetery Chippy, in Keighley Road, were told they had made it through to the next round following a visit from a mystery customer last week.
Fish friers Val and Les Scott and son-in-law Simon Stuart were runners-up in last year's regional final but this year they are determined to win it.
Last year they fought off close to 800 competitors to make it through to the regional round of the competition, organised by the National Association of Fish Friers and the Scotland-based Seafish Industries.
They'll be kept on their toes waiting for a visit from a second mystery customer.
Les, who has run the shop for 12 years, said: "We are hoping to win it this time and that would certainly put Colne on the map."
The Scotts brought the shop back to success after a serious fire two years ago put them out of business for 17 weeks. They were joined by Simon four years ago. He said: "It will be a major boost if we win."
