DETECTIVES are appealing for information after two incidents in Atherton which they believe could be linked.
The first was outside the Rope and Anchor pub, Bolton Old Road, at noon on Tuesday.
A 41-year-old woman was sat in her car in the car park when an offender approached on a bicycle and threatened her with a knife.
He took two bags containing electronic equipment.
He is white, in his late 20s with a big build.
He had a "roundish" face, a scruffy appearance and was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and baseball cap.
The second incident took place four hours later when a man attempted to steal froma shop.
He went into the Easyway store on Smith Street at 4.10pm and threatened a female shop assistant with a knife, demanding cash from the till.
The 60-year-old shop assistant tackled the man with a curtain track, hitting him over the head.
The offender ran off towards Mealhouse Lane empty handed.
He is described as white, in his 20s, and about 5ft 3in tall with a round face. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap and striped T-shirt and spoke with a local accent.
