A MUM of twins, who has set up a new club for parents of multiple births, is calling on parents with 'double trouble' to get in touch.
Karoline Jordan, 32, of St Stephen's Road, Preston, gave birth to Cerys and Jacob two years ago.
The former retail manager, who also has a five-year-old son, said she often felt the odd one out among other adults and wanted to meet parents with similar experiences.
That proved the starting point to Preston Multiples Group which she set up in order to meet other parents in the same boat.
She said: "Every multiple mum deserves a break from the seemingly endless questions and stares and I was determined to create a place where multiples and parents felt like one of the crowd.
"While I was pregnant with twins, I was fortunate enough to have a twins group nearby and being able to chat to others like me was very helpful.
"I toyed with the idea of setting up my own group, but felt I had enough with looking after my children -- when the twins turned two I decided it was time I put a bit back and help others."
Karoline would eventually like to see the Preston Multiples Group fund-raising and holding fun days across the county. She said: "Getting the club some publicity is my current priority. I have put posters up around Preston and the group even gets a mention on a few websites -- I am hoping to get our own website up and running soon."
Karoline's venture has already won the backing of the national charity for parents of multiples, The Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA) and will be featured in the next edition of their magazine. Spokesman Linda Jones said: "When you go to a twins club, within minutes of meeting other mums, you feel at home and you don't feel as if all eyes are on you the minute you enter the room.
"It can be very difficult when you have twins or triplets to find the energy to do anything. You are constantly told 'you have got your hands full' or asked 'how do you cope?'"
She added: "I wish Karoline every success in her new club -- when I found my local twins club my only regret was that I had not done it sooner."
