A MAN was found in posession of cannabis after a car he was travelling in was in an accident.
Ryan Rimmer, 18, of Greenside Avenue, Blackburn, was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £65 costs by Blackburn magistrates.
Mr Rimmer pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.
The court heard that Rimmer was a passenger in a car involved in an accident at Sudell Cross in Blackburn and officers who attended found a small tin containing the drug.
Michael Blacklidge, defending, said that because of police inquiries concerning the driver, a friend of Rimmer's, and his client, a builder, had been kept in custody for 18 hours and had missed work on Saturday morning.
"It has been a very salutory lesson for this young man," said Mr Blacklidge.
