PRESSURE group Friends of the Earth is set to start up more branches across East Lancashire.
The organisation, the world's largest environmental group, has balloted its members on a move to opening separate branches in Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
The move follows complaints from some members that they had to travel too far to meetings.
The group campaigns on all environmental issues, including Genetically-Modified foods, transport issues and air pollution.
Local group co-ordinator Hayley Reed, said: "Friends of the Earth is a group that believes in giving ordinary citizens a voice in the fight to protect our environment.
"We are always interested to hear from people who would like to get involved.
"It's easy to join, it's fun and it's good for the planet.
"Our branch often gets inquiries from people who are interested in current topics like incineration, Genetically Modified foods and air pollution, but find the current Whalley meeting too far to travel."
Anyone interested in joining Friends of the Earth should call Mrs Reed on 01254 236715.
Membership costs £5 per person, £3 for the unemployed, and £7 for families, £5 for unemployed.
