THE family of a man missing for two weeks were today travelling to Cumbria following the discovery of a body.
Police investigating the disappearance of Mark Robert Hughes, aged 19, are liaising with Cumbria police after a body was found in the Windermere area.
His family has been informed and a formal identification was due to take place in Kendal today.
A police spokesman said more details would be released following the formal identification.
Mr Hughes was last seen getting on a tram at Heaton Park Metrolink station on August 16.
His family live in Pinfold Lane, Whitefield, but he had been sharing a flat with three students in Fallowfield and was due to start a psychology course at Manchester Metropolitan University.
In a separate inquiry, police are concerned about a Leigh man who has not been seen for more than a week.
Mark Darwin, aged 30, has been missing from his Bond Street home since Saturday, August 18.
He was last seen at 5pm by a warden at the sheltered accommodation where he lives.
He is white, 5ft 8ins tall, heavily built with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. He has a Northern accent and was last seen wearing track suit bottoms and a blue zip-up jacket.
He requires medication which he has left at his flat and he may become depressed without it.
