A TRIP to the shop for a packet of cigarettes led to Gavin Holden facing the possibility of a prison sentence.
Blackburn magistrates ordered the preparation of pre-sentence reports after Holden pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and warned that all options, including custody, would be open to the sentencing bench.
Holden, 22, of Lindisfarne Avenue, Blackburn, was remanded on bail until September 24 for the preparation of reports after the court heard that he was disqualified for 12 months on November 3 for driving with excess alcohol and for three years on November 15 for a similar offence.
Jonathon Taylor, defending, said Holden fully accepted that he had been very foolish. "I don't think he fully understood how serious this offence is," said Mr Taylor.
"On the night of the offence he was going to the shop for a packet of cigarettes. It is as simple as that."
