SUNNYHURST won the Mixed Knockout Trophy in one of the closest finals in years and in doing so prevented Parkwood from completing the league and cup double.
The final was decided on a comeback after both teams were level on 2-2 in rubbers and also level in sets 4-4.
And it was Sunnyhurst who clinched the title by just a single game to beat the league champions.
The winning Sunnyhurst team included Janet Dalgleish, Mark Edwards, Edwina Forrest and Nigel Isherwood.
The Parkwood side included John and Kath Phethean, Dave Chapman and Catherine Long.
The East Lancashire League is reaching a climax and Blackburn Northern A have proved to be the league's top side having retained Division One title for another season, beating Burnley B 3-1.
At the moment, Blackburn Northern A are dominating the mens league, so it is up to the other clubs to close the gap next season or be part of a procession again. Burnley A finish in second place and will feel a little bit peeved at not taking the Blackburn side to the last week of the season to decide the championship.
Whalley B went top of Division Three for the first time in the final week of the season after they beat Parkwood B 5-0 and in doing so finished up winning the Division Three title from under the noses ofSunnyhurst C and Accrington B.
