IT'S HARD not to rave about this show. It is just fab -- an enticing mixture of breathtaking Irish dancing, great fiddle playing, drama, beautiful song and fabulously lavish costumes and set.
Even if you don't know your Irish legends, Lord of the Dance is really just a tale of good versus evil, and it's easy to spot the baddies from the goodies.
The Opera House was packed, and many in the audience leapt to their feet at the finale shouting for more. Let's face it, Lord of the Dance has a "must see" reputation which precedes it wherever it goes and, having seen it now, I know why.
The choreography -- dreamed up by famous dancer-turned-artistic director Michael Flatley -- is by turns wild, delicate, sultry and innocent. Ronan Hardiman's music makes your spine tingle and the 40-strong cast's energy is awesome.
This show is polished, crafted, precise, exciting. I wanted to rush out for a Guinness and book myself Irish dance lessons.
The Opera House stage has been begging for something like this for a long time. It's a venue that needs a spectacular show and boy, does Lord of the Dance fit the bill!
The show runs at Blackpool Opera House daily (except Sundays) at 7.30pm, until Saturday, September 15.
Matinees Thursdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm. Tickets from £16 available from the box office on 292029.
