HOSPITAL bosses have come under fire from a Bury woman who claims an 15-year-old schoolgirl was present as she underwent an intimate examination.
The 35-year-old patient was being treated at North Manchester General Hospital when she realised the teenage work experience student dressed in a white coat was in the consultation room without her consent.
An investigation was launched by North Manchester Healthcare NHS Trust and the consultant surgeon, Dr Roger Williams, has since apologised to the patient, believed to be a multiple sclerosis sufferer.
The girl was given permission by Dr Williams to observe patient checks, sometimes without their consent.
However, the Trust has stressed that the girl did not take part in the treatment or care of patients or saw the intimate examination being carried out the woman who complained.
The Trust is contacting all patients seen by the student without consent to apologise.
