A COLNE horticultural project which helps people with long-term mental health problems has been awarded £1,300.
Green Space, who have a garden in Albert Road, Colne, has been awarded the money by Shell Better Britain Campaign.
Set up in 1992 in Burnley, Green Space started the Colne garden in 1995 and uses gardening as a therapy for local people with enduring mental health problems.
Volunteers gain self-confidence through working in the garden and becoming involved in gardening projects at the homes of elderly and disabled people.
The Shell campaign supports communities taking action for sustainable development.
It provides grants for groups like Green Space and information and support to a network of 26,000 communities across the country.
Director Peter Woodward said: "We hope the lead taken by this group will be an inspiration to others. It is amazing the transformations communities can achieve."
Green Space project worker Catherine Cressey said: "It is a wonderful boost and will allow us to do much more."
