TWO Blackpool Guides have been presented with the highest award in Guiding.
Angela Wilson, and Kerry Roberts, of 30th Blackpool Guides unit, Holy Trinity Church, South Shore, were presented with their Baden Powell awards at a special ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour at Blackpool Town Hall.
To achieve their awards, the 14-year-olds had to work through several assignments such as service to the community, and exploring the history of Guiding.
Alison Taylor, divisional commissioner of Blackpool South Guides, praised their achievement and said: "As a Guide it is the highest award they can achieve.
"What made it special is that they are probably going to be the last two to get them because the Guide programme has now changed and the Baden Powell award is being phased out with other awards coming in," she said.
Angela and Kerry were presented with their awards by Blackpool Mayor Councillor Sue Wright.
The ceremony was also attended by guest Guides from New Zealand, who were in Forton, near Garstang, enjoying the Lancashire West Guide International Camelot camp.
