DISABLED facilities in Blackpool have been slammed by two of the town's councillors.
Liberal Democrats Doreen Holt and Jon Bamborough called on Blackpool Borough Council to undertake a review of the facilities for the disabled at a special meeting yesterday (Wednesday).
Coun Holt, who is herself disabled, said: "I know from first hand experience many of the problems that disabled people have to cope with, especially in Blackpool town centre.
"I am not asking for special treatment for the disabled, just a level playing field and pavements."
Coun Bamborough was seconding the motion for the review and added: "It is difficult to truly understand the plight of the disabled until you are put into their situation.
"I am not disabled but, having spent some time trying to negotiate the roads and pavements around Anchorsholme in a wheelchair scooter recently, I am certainly more aware of some of the problems that they encounter just going about their daily lives.
"I had trouble myself negotiating the roads and pavements and I was using an excellent scooter -- not everyone is as lucky.
