ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman knows a week is a long time in football.
This time last week, he was desperate for a win after conceding eight goals in their opening two UniBond Premier Division defeats.
Now they have turned it around, scoring eight goals in their Bank Holiday weekend victories over Burscough, 3-0, and Marine, 5-2.
"We are not getting carried away but it is better," said manager Coleman.
Striker Lutel James has scored five goals in the last two games, record £25,000 buy Gary Williams has got three this season and Paul Mullin has got one.
"The forwards have always been pretty confident," said Coleman.
"Lutel is a very bubby character, he works hard, is good to have in the team and is a great character. There's no doubt that he will get more goals.
"Gary is a lot sharper than last season and Paul has been a bit sluggish as he missed some of the pre-season through work but he is getting there.
"And Mark Shirley is coming back. They have all started the season well.
"They are a top bunch and it is nice for all of them to score.
"Now we just want the rest of the team to get some goals as well."
Coleman's only headache is his defence who have conceded ten goals in their four games.
"It is a worry but we have got to learn to defend from the front as well. That is the responsibility of the team.
"We have kept one clean sheet out of four and that is something we need to build on.
"Even when we had scored four goals against Marine we let them back into it to make it 4-2 and we could have made it so comfortable.
"But we do always look determined to win. We have just got to try and concentrate a bit more, not lose the ball or give away silly free kicks.
"We have talked about it in training and hopefully it will improve us and we will make the right decisions.
"But even when things have gone for us, we have never stopped believing in each other.
"We are not there yet, and we will improve and get better."
Stanley will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins when newly promoted Vauxhall Motors visit the Crown Ground tomorrow (ko 3pm).
"They will be on the crest of a wave. I have watched them. They looked good going forward so it will be 8-8!" said the manager. "But I'll settle for a 1-0 win!"
