This week, with JOHN GETTY, Pendle engineer in charge of the construction element of the "new Bluebird" project

MEMORY: Sitting inside a fenced-off "cage" which my mother had had built on the lawn because I kept disappearing.

JOB: I had a soapbox, like a buggy, and my first job was taking people's luggage from the railway station at Morecambe to the caravan park about two miles away. I was probably about nine or 10 and in those days, 40 years ago, people didn't have cars.

HOLIDAY: We went to Jersey in an old aeroplane with a propeller when I was about 10. It was the first time I had flown. We had to walk about three miles to get to the sea. The tide went out so far that by the time you got to the water you were too tired to swim.

RECORD: Frank Ifield's I Remember You.

CAR: A Morris Minor which I bought for £5. My father went crazy and made me totally rebuild it and do the brakes.

PET: We used to have a big dog called a Briard, like a jet black English sheepdog. At the time we had him there were only 12 in the UK, and I think Cilla Black had two.

LOVE: A young lady called Caroline at Heasandford Primary School, Burnley.

KISS: Caroline again.

LIE: A friend of mine and he led me astray. We were about eight and ended up smashing a load of windows in some old greenhouses on an allotment. The allotment owner asked if I had done it. I said I hadn't but I got a flogging for doing it and another for telling lies. EMBARRASSMENT: I asked a friend of mine who I had hadn't seen for a long time how his father was. He had died the week before.

DRINK: Blue Bass on draught on the ferry to Belfast. I was 16, got intoxicated and couldn't find my cabin my mum and dad had got me so I would be safe. I ended up sleeping in the linen locker. The next morning everyone was one one side of the boat waving to people on shore and I was on the other side shouting for Hughie. A lady came up and said: "Never mind, everyone is seasick on their first voyage."

BUSINESS VENTURE: A little antique shop in Colne Road, Burnley, about 30 years ago.
