A MAN was found to have Ecstasy and amphetamine in his possession during a random drug search in Utopia nightclub, Blackburn.
The town's magistrates heard that Joseph Aspin had been given the small amounts of the drugs inside the club and had accepted them despite being aware of the random search policy.
Aspin, 20, of Ulverston Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possession of Ecstasy and amphetamine and failing to surrender to bail. He was fined a total of £130 with £75 costs.
Michael Blacklidge, defending, said Aspin plays soccer for a team in the premier division of the Blackburn Combination, is in full-time employment as an engineer and his girlfriend is expecting his first child.
"He has got an awful lot going for him and should not be dabbling in drugs of this nature," said Mr Blacklidge.
"He accepts that and asks me to give you an assurance that he will not be appearing before this or any other court in the future."
