EXPECT plenty of new faces at Ewood Park over the coming months - but not all of them will be staying.
Troyes' Argentinian defender Luciano Zuvagno is the latest to be linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers following the collapse of the £3.75m deal for Liverpool left-back Djimi Traore yesterday.
The 24-year-old is very highly rated and has been one of the French club's most consistent performers this season, including two good displays against Newcastle in the Intertoto Cup.
Rovers watched the Argentine play in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Lyon and Troyes have given Zuvagno permission to come on a week's trial - and he will not be the last.
"There will be a number of people coming to the club on trial over the coming months," said chief executive John Williams.
"We have identified several foreign players and are talking to a number of representatives.
"This will result in these players coming over, having a look at us and us at them.
"We see this as a sensible way of doing business."
Williams was philosophical about the Traore deal, which resulted in the French youngster going on loan to Lens for a year, with Liverpool holding on to his contract.
"We always maintained an interest in him and made a bid, but things haven't worked out," said Williams.
Meanwhile, striker Corrado Grabbi looks set to face Sunderland next weekend after Rovers confirmed that he did not damage a hamstring during last Saturday's 2-1 win against Spurs.
Italian striker Grabbi limped out of the game early in the first half clutching his hamstring to provoke initial fears that he suffered a muscle pull. With Grabbi struggling to adjust to life in the Premiership following his £6.7million switch from Serie B outfit Ternana in the summer, a lengthy hamstring lay-off would have been a major blow to both club and player.
Grabbi has scored just one goal for Blackburn since his arrival and that came during pre-season against first division Bradford City.
The 25-year-old has impressed manager Graeme Souness with his work rate, though, and the Ewood Park boss has vowed to stand by the striker until he finds his feet in England.
And Grabbi will now have the opportunity to make his mark without the disruption of an injury lay-off now that Rovers have admitted that Grabbi's condition is far less serious than first feared.
A club spokesman said: "Corrado has a sciatica problem and it's nothing to worry about as far as the club are concerned.
"He has been having treatment throughout the week and I think it's fair to say that he will fit for our next game against Sunderland a week on Saturday."
