AFTER 21 years of teaching at Stoneyholme and Stoneyholme Primary, headteacher Colin Wills retired yesterday.
A surprise party for family and friends at Ighten Leigh Social Club on Wednesday night was followed by a special school assembly at the Oswald Street School, where children presented Mr Wills with a mobile telephone. Staff gave a digital camera with accessories. Fellow teacher Jayne Cooke, said: "He's been wonderful. He is very well thought of in the community and will be sorely missed."
Mr Wills has no plans for his retirement, but plans to spend more time with is wife, Freida and sons, Paul and Mark.
A special assembly was also held at Burnley Wood Primary School for retiring head Mr Adam Sapey.
