MANAGERS Stan Ternent and Jim Jefferies are building up tomorrow's Valley Parade clash into a 'derby' date to remember, writes PETE BARROW.
Both the Burnley boss and his opposite number at Bradford City are expecting a thunderous battle in front of a huge crowd -- and both are gearing up for such an occasion.
Jefferies, who is set to name an unchanged Bantams starting line-up, said: "Burnley have started well and there was no disgrace in their first defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Monday.
"They played most of the game down to ten men and it was to their credit that they scored again and worked hard at making a game of it.
"While they are from a different county, this is really a derby. It should be a fantatstic atmosphere and a cracker of a game."
The thoughts of Jefferies, who selects without former Leeds United pair defender David Wetherall and winger Lee Sharpe and has named new acquisition Lee Makel on the bench, were echoed by Ternent.
"Bradford are in close proximity and I would class it as a derby," said Ternent, who has served on the City managerial staff in the past.
"They are a big club with a go-ahead chairman and they will be looking to get back into the Premiership as soon as they can. It is fair to say they are a side I fancy to do well this season and they have the type of players who could take them straight back.
"They have a 100 per cent record, but then our away record is pretty good -- six points out of six."
Ternent is without strikers Gareth Taylor and Dimitrios Papadopoulos, on international duty with Wales and the Greek under-21s respectively, and looks set to select either Tony Ellis or Andy Payton to partner Ian Moore, who opened his account for the season in the 2-0 win at Millwall last weekend.
However, it is a problem that Ternent is happy to have, saying: "The fact that Gareth and Dimitrios are away on international duty shows how far we have progressed," enthused Ternent.
"It is a problem I didn't have when I came to the club four years ago and I would rather have what I've got now rather than where we were then.
"But it is just one of those problems you have to deal with over a season.
"You are always going to have to work around injuries and suspensions, we just have another problem with international call-ups now."
