BLACKBURN Transport staff are to be deployed on Darwen streets to make sure people catch the right bus while roadworks are carried out in the town centre
Green Street, near to The Circus, is closed so that work can be carried out on strenthening Peggy Brook Culvert.
The decision to close Green Street has meant that council bosses have decided to open the bus-only part of nearby Market Street to all traffic.
That has meant that buses will not be able to wait on Market Street, with only normal services using the street to pick up and drop off passengers. Special school services will pick up passengers in the layby in Bury Street.
A spokesman for the council said: "Blackburn Transport staff will be in attendance to assist pupils on to the right buses. Schools mainly affected are Darwen Vale High School, St Wilfrid's High School and St Bede's RC High School. Work is set to continue until September and until the end of the roadworks buses cannot stop as usual on Market Street."
