ROSSENDALE Valley wildlife has been 'brought to book' by local 'bobby' PC Dale Pollard.
Wildlife officer Dale has just published his first book all about the flora and fauna of the Rossendale Valley.
'Wild Valley - A Celebration of Rossendale Wildlife' has been published with the help of local amateur photographers, television personality and "twitcher" Bill Oddie and the local Asda store.
Three thousand copies of the book have been printed with each of the 95 full-colour pages showing the wildlife to be seen in Rossendale, if only you know where to look.
They include long eared owls, badgers, caterpillars and other flora and fauna, with a rarity rating for each.
All proceeds from the book will go back to protecting wildlife, and human life, with donations to the Lancashire Badger Group, RSPCA, RSPB and the Rossendale Search and Rescue organisation.
The book will be launched with the help of Rossendale Search and Rescue, and a dramatic stunt, at the Asda store on Sunday, September 9.
Dale said: "I have lived in Rossendale since 1976 and have spent much of my spare time walking the moors, woods and valleys.
"I love the area and its wildlife and wanted to share my knowledge of it with others, as well as do my bit to help protect it for future generations, which is why I set about compiling the book."
All the photos were taken locally by local people who entered a competition to be featured in the book.
Dale added: "I received a tremendous amount of support from local people and would like to thank them all.
"As well as getting the chance to see their work in print, they can also take pride in knowing that they are doing their bit to help protect the Valley's wildlife and provide funds for a number of good causes."
