Radcliffe Boro 3 Atherton LR 3
HAVING conceded just one goal in the four opening Unibond Division One games to top the early season listing, Boro go and concede three to NWCL Division One LR.
More than that they can count themselves extremely fortunate to have another bite of the cherry in tomorrow night's replay. The game was a cracker from start to finish with Boro streaking into a two goal lead after just five minutes through a Richard Landon 25 yard deflected free kick and Andy Walker's delicate chip when set up by Jody Banim.
Gradually underdogs Atherton began to realise there was something in this game for them and on 14 minutes Mark Jones got the first after Barry Massay had Boro defenders in a panic.
With a chance to level in the first minute of the second half spurned Rovers made amends on 59 minutes when Massay squared for Mike Rhead. Stung into action Boro again took the lead on 85 minutes when Scott Wilson made it 3-2. Within a minute the possibility of an unjust defeat for LR was erased when the highly impressive Massay levelled for his sixth goal of the season. The two replay at Crilly Park tomorrow night, kick off 7.45pm.
