INITIAL plans for a new Higher Folds woodland have been drawn up and are awaiting residents' approval.
Plans for the new 131-hectare community woodland on a former colliery spoil tip will be on display at a series of drop-in meetings throughout the area.
There has already been a lot of community input into the designs. The Forestry Commission landscape architect has incorporated ideas and suggestions put forward by residents.
Lisa Foden, the Forestry Commission's community liaison officer, said: "We're developing the forest for local people to use and enjoy, so it's important that the final design reflects their needs and wishes. We want to know if we've missed anything out so we need people's feedback on these initial maps."
Drop in sessions will be:
Tuesday, September 4, 4pm-8pm Boundary Pub, Manchester Road, Leigh
Wednesday, September 5, 6pm-9pm Tyldesley Conservative Club, Stanley Road, Tyldesley.
